What is an SME IPO?
SME IPOs allow small and medium enterprises (with paid-up capital up to ₹25 crore) to raise capital from public markets via dedicated NSE Emerge and BSE SME platforms. Lot sizes are larger (typically ₹1-2 lakh minimum investment) and the platforms are less liquid than mainboard.
The average SME issue size has tripled from ₹13 crore in FY21 to ₹43 crore in FY26, reflecting growing institutional interest. SME stocks can experience sharper price swings post-listing due to lower float.
